Welcome home.
The best way to be welcomed home is to walk into the door of your apartment and be hit with the aroma of Seco Con Carne Con Frijoles, then round the corner to find a happy Peruvian man cooking in a floral lacey appron.
I love Leah's Dad.
He is Peruvian and has this rich wonderful accent, he came in town last Saturday and it has been a non-stop party.
Today it was cooking 101 in our little kitchen.
Garlic rice, Seco, beans and Papa A La Huncayina. (I had him spell it out for me, still not sure how to pronounce it)
Seco is this tender meat that had been cooking in this cilantro based sauce, amazing.
Took two hours to cook, as we listened to Genesis on the record player.
It really is just so fun to be around these two, and listen to Leah's dad talk in his great accent.
"My mom called the couch the 'Holly couch' we weren't even allowed to hold hands on the couch. When she was gone we would desecrate the couch."
. . Makes me want to go to Peru, I just love him.
This picture makes my heart swirl, such a great way to spend the night.
It will be a sad day when Dad leaves town.
