Well, today, for the first time in my life i saw someone drop dead.
My roommate Natalie's family came in town and her and her two sisters ran the Top Of Utah Half Marathon this morning. So all the gnomes went down to support, and help out with all the kids they had running around.
The family stayed at the finish line with camera's in hand and i ran up further to see if i could spot them and then call Hayley and give them a heads up that they were coming in.
Natalie said i looked so cute sitting Indian style by myself on the pavement cheering her in. . (cute? or pathetic? or funny?. . . i forget what she said)
After they all had passed, i started to walk back to meet up with everyone, and then out of the corner of my eye i saw one of the runners fall.
He was a big guy. . like 6'4 and old. . . maybe 60, and it was almost immediately that the medical people where there, he was only like a half a block from the finish line, if that like 100 yards.
They cut open his shirt and started doing chest compressions, they where shoving tubes down his throat to make him breathe, i kept catching glimpses of his face, he looked pale and scary. I was watching his legs hopping he would move them. . . . nothing.
It must have been 4-5 minuets until the ambulance could pull in and they loaded him up. . . still nothing. . . . Riana's patient said that they flew him to Ogden Hospital, he had had a heart attack. . . still no word on if he is dead. .. . . my guess- he dropped dead.
Crazy.
Watching runners run in is always so inspiring. . . Can't wait for the marathon.
