Birthright 2012

I'm posting this video to settle the demands of siblings who want to see it again. .

And to my Mother who wanted Grandma to see it. 

Battle of the Birthright happens every year for the Orton children, this year we were honored to have our new brother join us in a competition that, for a year, determines who has the birthright.

The parents surprise us with the event the day of.  

Years past consisted of badminton, chalk art, ping pong, cricket, um, I think there was a 4 square or basketball thing one year. 

This year competition was a relay race, depending on your time in the relay race was the extra amount of time you had in the final activity of catching the rooster. 

The Relay consisted of- Dad loading us all up in his car and dropping us of a quarter of a mile away from the house to foot race back (across a river and up a hill) home, once at home you had to run back and forth carrying watter until you had filled an entire glass, then after all the running you had to down 4 peeps. (making all of us extremely nauseous) Then you had to assemble a kite and get it flying high enough in the air that you ran out of string. 

(All of that to gain a mere 5 second head start at the rooster.)

We all watched the video after and had a good laugh, yet I don't think anyone outside our family would find this entertaining. . So I added some bluegrass music for your enjoyment. You're Welcome. 

Note: Sam is not wearing boots, just some Tevas with black socks. It's a good look for him.

Also- RaVoe has a terrible fear of birds, so it is really comical to me to hear her scream as max throws the bird on her at the end. I've never heard that sound come out of her.


Max, holds the title, I think this might be the third year in a row for him.

It is quite depressing, we are all quite competitive, and every year it is real close win.
